Nabil Ammar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, led the Tunisian delegation partaking in the Summit of Member States of the African Union High-Level Committee on Libya, held in Brazzaville on February 5 2024.

Nabil Ammar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, delivered a speech reaffirming Tunisia’s support for a political settlement in the brotherly State of Libya. He emphasized Tunisia’s commitment to bridging perspectives among various Libyan parties for a peaceful resolution based on a Libyan-Libyan agreement, free from external interventions, aiming to preserve Libya’s unity and achieve security and stability for its brotherly people, reads a statement by the Foreign Ministry.
The Minister Ammar highlighted that the President of the Tunisian Republic, Kaïs Saïed, supports this fundamental stance. This support was evident during Tunisia’s hosting of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum under the auspices of the United Nations on November 9, 2020, and on the occasion of his official visit to Libya following the handover of Libyan authorities resulting from the Geneva process on March 17, 2021. President Saied, through these instances, called on Libyan brethren to unite around a comprehensive national project, aiming to restore security and stability to Libya. This effort is intended to enable Libya to play its role in maintaining regional security, avoiding further tension and security threats through collaboration with all relevant parties and international entities, notably the African Union and the United Nations.
Minister Ammar also praised the efforts of all parties supporting a peaceful resolution to the Libyan crisis, calling for unified endeavors towards comprehensive national reconciliation. He considered this Summit as a distinguished opportunity to bridge perspectives, expressing President Kaïs Saïed’s appreciation for the efforts of the President of the Republic of Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso, at the helm of the High-Level Committee of the African Union on Libya. This appreciation reflects the commitment to ensuring the success of the Libyan national reconciliation process and securing all elements for regional security and stability.
